Experiences of Alternative Pathways in Access to Solicitors’ Profession: Levelling Up?
This project explores the experiences of alternative pathways in accessing the solicitors' profession. As part of our commitment to understanding the dynamics of legal career pathways, we invite individuals currently undertaking a solicitor apprenticeship to participate in this study.

Project Overview: Our current research project, funded by the British Academy Leverhulme Trust Small Grant (Ref SRG23\231569), focuses on the social inequalities in access to the solicitors' profession. We aim to deeply understand how individuals from various social backgrounds and geographic locations navigate and experience alternative pathways to professional qualification as solicitors. By focusing on these dynamics, we seek to address the grand challenge of building a society that is genuinely inclusive and equitable for all.

Participation Information: If you are currently enrolled in a solicitor apprenticeship program and are interested in contributing to our study, we encourage you to review the participant information sheet provided. This document contains comprehensive details about the research objectives, methodology, and confidentiality measures.

How to Participate: Participation in this project involves completing a downloadable consent form and demographic questionnaire. Once you have carefully reviewed the participant information sheet and wish to participate, please fill out these forms and return them via email to caroline.barrett@york.ac.uk.

Your input is invaluable in shaping our understanding of alternative pathways to the solicitors' profession and informing potential advancements in policy and practice. Thank you for considering participation in this vital research.
